Oldenburg 5 July

It is about 24 km from Oldenburg to the Weser river and from Weser River to Bremer Havn about 30 km, but Oldenburg has a tide of 2,9 m.

This is low tide. Now to wait about 6 hours to take a photo of high tide.
Voila! This is High tide.
The Schlöss in the centre of the town, 1607, built by Graf Anton Günther.
Researcher Carl has dipped into his large knowledge of historical facts and says that Oldenburg used to belong to Denmark. A bit of googling and we have found out that when Count Günther died the House of Oldenburg fell to the Royal Danish House. This in 1677. Since then, through marriages and alliances the House of Oldenburg has strong influence and connections with the Royal houses of Denmark. Sweden, England, Russia, Greece and Norway. There is still a Count of Oldenburg living in Germany, although not in the castle.

A statue of three bears on the square.
Oldenburg is known for kale (grönkål), but i don't think that has anything to do with bears.
