Back in Frontignan an hour and a half after leaving we discovered that the stove, which has been a bit temperamental for a while, decided to give up completely. Luckily we have Mr Fixit on board, who likes nothing better than to delve into electrical, mechanical or any type of engineering problems.
Well, there is a lot to be said about being stuck in a town, which at first glance seems quite boring and uninspiring. It makes you go out and look for interesting and inspiring things, or preople.
We met up with Lise and Preben from the boat Anna the Brave. They are from Denmark and have been floating around on the canals for the past three years, even during winter. But they have a magnificent boat which looks comfortable in all kinds of weather. Lively meeting with an interesting couple. We will read their blog, which I am sure is more informative than ours, when we travel through
France and Belgium.
We found a tiny restaurant on a nearby street which looked promising for dinner. The pub next door was full of Friday after work people in very high spirits. They tried to tell us what time the restaurant opens, but they all had different times! They managed to get our nationalities out of us. We retuned the restaurant later to a warm welcome from the owner, who was expecting guests from Sweden and South Africa! The after workers had told him to expect us!
Patrick and Petra, the owners, chefs, waiters, and every thing else in the restaurant. Petra, originally from Bratislava, moved to Sweden when she was 9. She moved to France to learn French, met Patrick and the rest is history. Patrick and Petra have visited South Africa twice. They have a friend who lives in George. They just love South Africa and showed us all the photos of their last visit. Don't know what the other guests thought about that, being a big ignored!
Muscat sec, wine from this reason. According to Patrick only 5000 bottles produced. So of course it was good.
