And off they go to Cannes, where it might be warmer. Really cold here today and it does not seem to be getting warmer the next few days. Well, at least it is not snowing, as I believe it is in a northern homeland!
Our faithful fender, which we call Nellie ( after our dog) is slowly giving up. Time to put her out to pasture. That means she still hangs from the boat, but does no work. As soon as the boat moves against a bank or pontoon, she just flattens.
She will teach the other fenders how to protect LelleBelle.
"Lill Nellie" has taken over her duty on starboard and a new Lill-Nellie on port and then we have the two new puppy-nellies at the back.
We rented bicycles and cycled 5 km in a freezing headwind to the only marina shop on the Canal Midi. Got the fenders and cycled back. Believe it or not but the wind had turned and we met the same freezing wind on the way back.
Carl with the two puppy-nelliesLeslie balancing with the new "Lill-Nellie".
The bridge to the right of Leslie is the canal entrance to the river la Garonne. Today this canal takes you to the lock Saint Pierre which takes you onto la Garonne but upstream of the weir.
When I was young we could buy a white wine called LaGaronne for just a bit more than 5 Swedish krona. It put us in good spirit and gave very little headache and hangovers or babbalous as they say in South Africa.
The bridge to the left of Les is the entrance to the Canal de Garonne which goes all the way to Bordeaux and the Atlantic Ocean. We skip both and go back on the Canal Midi. We know her well and have no wish to get onto other unknown waters.
