So here we are for another day, between the cement factory and the nuclear plant, nearest town with only a Tabac, 2 km away. Hopefully Didier will be cooking tonight.
Time to dive into all those books we have not read.
Carl had the brilliant idea that we should walk to a town, Laudon. He heard from the Capitainerie that Laudon is a beautiful town, only 6 km away. And they have a Cave, which is a wine cellar. So we set off armed with umbrellas, but it was actually quite warm.
So we find ourselves walking through the beautiful countryside, quite different from boating down the Rhone. Every day a new adventure.
Laudon turned out to be a charming town, with a wonderful tourist office. The lady in the tourist office was very helpful, let us in to an exposition of Roman artefacts, and even a coffin with a skeleton. In the middle of the residential are we found this aqueduct.
Trying to make an artistic photo!
The roofs of Laudon.
The town is dominated by a hill with a beautiful garden. Remains of Roman habitation,
Carl found the Cave and stocked up. Had to take a taxi back to the Port.
This enormous vase from roman times was on display in the cave museum. It was used for winemaking.
And when we returned to port we found the Manfred, Monica and her sister had arrived from Avignon.
So we all had dinner together at the port restaurant. At last got to taste the cook, Didiers, food.
