Harskirchen - Sarreguemines 14 June

Not sure where we are heading today. Leslie is set on Sarreguemines but Carl is dying to get onto the river and is aiming for Saarbrücken. Because of periodically  very heavy rain ( what else is new), Sarreguemines won and here we are.
Beautiful countryside today, very green and lush.
And here the Sarre, or Saar River joins the canal.
And we meet up with Dorothea and Ulli again.
Thank goodness we decided to stay in Sarreguemines! Downpour after downpour. This is the view from Lellebelle. A beautiful building called  "The Casino". "The Casino" was built in the 19th century " for the distraction of the workers in the pottery industry" it was not a casino but a place where the pottery workers had a library and other "distracting " activities.
The pottery industry flourished in Sarreguemines. Today only tiles for bathrooms and kitchens are made here.
The pottery kiln, one the many kilns used in the pottery business.

So it has stopped raining. Lovely mooring next to the Casino, where we enjoyed an excellent meal with Ulli and Dorothea.

Took a walk around the town. Once again we have come to a place we have never heard of before and are happily surprised by how lovely and interesting it is. Sarreguemines, great place.
