Mullhouse - Weisweil 3 June

A bit of an exciting day for Carl, who likes the expected to happen, and a bit nerve racking for Leslie, who likes to know "where are we going to sleep tonight". Left Mullhouse (pronounced Moolhooos) on the time agreed with the elves (VNF) to open the first lock at 8.30. We do not have a Fluvial Guide for about 60 km between Mulhouse and a lock Rhinua. That meant that we were kind of guessing what was ahead of us. We passed through 4 gigantic locks, 22 m high, 200 m long, all by ourselves in these enormous locks. And then we found out the locks leading to a canal which would take us to Strasbourg close at 5.30. We also suspected that we should have informed the elves that we planned to take that route. The alternative was to go down then Rhine, but since we had no information on ports along the way, Leslie dug in her heels. So the canal it would be, except it was getting later and a thunder storm was brewing. And just then a little yachtclub appeared on the bank of the river. Weisweil yacht club looked like paradise. Turned in there to a great welcome from very friendly preople and of course we can spend the night in the marina. And they told us it was better to take the Rhine instead of the canal.
Leaving lock number 41 from Mooolooos.

The last part of the Rhin Rhon Canal heading for Niffer locks. Once again beautiful landscape.

On the Rhine again, intertwining with the Grand Canal d'Alsace.
About here the thunderstorm started brewing and it was 4 pm, when the Weisweil yachtclub appeared on the right bank. A quick consensus that we stop the day's travels there.
A well deserved snack and beer after a tough day! And now we are in Germany.
The beautiful Rhine after the downpour.
Had a drink in the clubhouse with the Weisweil yachtclub members.
They told us they have their  smaller motor boats here and their big motorboats in Kroatia.
Of course we had to hear "not in that boat!" when we told them where we had been.
Took a 3 km walk into Weisweil.
Along the road all these wooden sculptures were placed.
