Güdingen - Saarbrücken 17 June

Goose behaviour study. Early morning preening at Güdingen lock.
Made ourselves comfortable with books and waited for something to happen.
Suddenly at 10.00 everything happened at once, a downpour, and the lock opened!
So off we go, Mosel here we come!

Cruising through Saarbrucken.
Looks like a pleasant place to be, but we are moving on. We are going down the Saar valley and look forward to taste the Saar wines.

We are now in Germany and the French guest flag who has been flying since 13 August 2015 is replaced with the German.
BUT! Stop again at the first lock after Saarbrucken. Hochwasswer. Lock closed untill sometime this afternoon, maybe, or maybe later. There is a man on a boat also waiting for the lock to open. He told us that he had already spent 8 days waiting for different  locks to open.

So conference time again. And we decide to stay in Saarbrucken and visit Peter and Aldona who we met on the Danube 2014. They have their boat on the River Lahn. So it is car hire time again and maybe, maybe, maybe when we start again on Monday, all the locks will be open and the rain will have disappeared.

We heard from Erika and company that they waited untill 15.00 and they went through the Saarbrucken lock. No matter, we go next week but first we meet our friends on the beautiful river Lahn.

In the town of Saarbrucken having a glass of Riesling after Sweden lost 1-0 to Italy. We found an almost quiet square away from the hooting Italians driving around the town in their cars and destroying the peaceful day with their ugly noise and happy faces.

  3. Back in Saarbrucken, water level 13 cm too high. Hired a car and driving to Nassau to visit friends instead. Hoping to start again on Monday.
